I came across a link to this picture on fur.artwork.misc tonight... and I' somewhat troubled by it. I mean, it is an absolutly gourgous piece of art and all, but the subject matter really make me think deep thoughts. Who is she (I think it's a she.. could be a he I 'pose)? Whats up with the bird (a dove you notice, the bird of peace)? Who did this to her?

She is protecting the dove against someone who are after it, and she is willing to pay a high price to do so... or is she, symbolicly speaking, a protecor of the peace?

I like that last way of looking at the picture - but then, in a way, I too is a protector of the peace. One of the reasons I joined the RNoAF (the Royal Norwegian Air Force) was that I wanted to do my little bit towards protecting the country I love. Now, close to fifteen years after I made up my mind and about ten years after I actually joined, I can also understand that it isn't always enought to protect what we already have, but that we sometimes must bring peace to places that has none.

I like the picture, on so many levels. It is saved on my disk for proserity.
